Open RERC Engineering Position

Open Full-Time Staff Position:

Rehabilitation Engineer & Director of Operations

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Accessible Medical Instrumentation (RERC-AMI), funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education at Marquette University, invites applicants for a new full-time position as Rehabilitation Engineer & Director of Operations. This is a full-time position with benefits, administered through Marquette University .

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will join the management team of this multi-site RERC-AMI, and will be expected to participate in both daily operations of the RERC-AMI (roughly 50% time) and in specific research and development (R&D) projects (roughly 50% time). Duties also include serving as Lab Manager for the Medical Device Accessibility and Usability Laboratory at Marquette University . There will also be a need to travel 3-5 times per year, typically for several days per trip. For the time associated with the rehabilitation engineering R&D activities, this position reports to Dr. Jack Winters of Marquette University . For the duties related to serving as Director of Operations, this position reports both to Dr. Winters and to Brenda Premo of Western University , roughly equally. It is expected that this person will commit to working with the RERC-AMI for a minimum time period of 30 months, subject to satisfactory performance. The position may be extended beyond 30 months if the grant is renewed or other sources of funding become available.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in engineering and either a Masters degree in engineering or several years of relevant work experience. Special attention will be given to candidates who have experience in the areas of biomedical and/or rehabilitation engineering, knowledge of universal and accessible design principles, and experience interacting with consumers with disabilities and with conducting research studies involving human subjects.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
